Hi Tina,

Regarding currency, Borneo comprises territory of 3 countries Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei and each country has their own currency. Many shops in Malaysia accepts only local currency Malaysia Ringgit MYR so you should have MYR. You can change USD, GP, EURO at currency exchange counter at the airport or banks (changing money at hotels is not recommended due to lower exchange rate).

Your holiday includes walks on the forest floor, so we recommend you bring a pair of non-slip shoes or shoes with a grip, which will also be suitable on rainy days. Walking boots may not be suitable due to their weight.

Answers to your clothing questions are:

Trekking trousers Yes
Long Sleeved Shirts Yes
Are Shorts OK Yes
Do I need Waterproofs Yes for river cruises activities in Kinabatangan River
Do I need a bikini costume Yes if you planned to visit the hotel pool area in Kota Kinabalu
Do I need a fleece or something warm” Yes, temperature at Kundasang can be chilly

Many thanks,
Vickie

Hi Tina
I am travelling on the same trip & I`m glad you asked the questions. The reply is really helpful, I`m trying to keep weight down but always hard to guess re balance between every day clothes and things like trekking trousers. I plan to just have lightweight trousers rather than specialist stuff
See you in a couple of weeks
Karen

Hi I went in May 2016 with JY and it was very hot and humid throughout, no need for a fleece that's for sure!  I also didn't need a bikini(!!).  There wasn't much free time and it was a great trip, especially the three days in the jungle - just amazing!  I brought leech socks but they weren't needed.  Be sure to bring a lightweight rainproof jacket or poncho...and don't forget the insect repellent!

Hope you all have a great time!

Bob

Hi,
I went to Borneo a couple of years ago. Its an amazing trip!
You wont need special trekking trousers. Any lightweight trousers are ok.
Definitely need a waterproof poncho but a cheap plastic one will be fine.
We didn't need leech socks but long sleeve tops are good for evenings.
I would take a lightweight fleece as a few evenings were a bit chilly.
Have a wonderful time!
Vicki
