I have just received the final documents for this holiday and am rather confused.   For the first time on a JY holiday the section on flight details contains the following wording:  "Flight tickets are no longer necessary.  Please see airline information below which will confirm if on-line check-in is required prior to arrival at the airport."  Apart from the fact that the flight details above show KLM as the airline for my journeys from and to Birmingham, there is no other information below so how am I supposed to know?   I had always understood that it was airlines such as Ryanair and Easyjet who insisted on on-line check-in, not the more established ones such as BA, KLM or Air France.

I should be grateful if someone at your end could provide the missing information, and it might be a good idea to amend the wording on the pro forma to avoid confusion in the future.

Many thanks.
Ann

Hi Ann,

You're not required by KLM to check-in online, but as you have your own booking reference number, the option is there for you to check-in, if you would like to.

Your booking reference number is on your final documents.

Many thanks,
Vickie

Thank you, Vickie.   As there is nothing on the paperwork to indicate a website address/section at which I could check-in on line (is one supposed to google for this and hope to get to the right place?) I shall just have to take my chances on seat allocation and check in when I get to B'ham airport.

My comment about making the pro forma documents clearer still stands.

Ann

Thanks for your feedback about this, I have passed it on and I know we are looking at all our customer documents at the moment, so this is helpful.

You can check in online at: http://www.klm.com

Returning from Laos earlier this year, I was indeed asked for my e-ticket, as my passport didn’t show on the passenger list. After some anxious minutes, the booking was found. It seems I had been booked as Mr not Mrs, and that confused the checkin operators. I was only able to travel because my travelling companions confirmed I was in their group. If I had been sent an e-ticket I would have spotted this very major error before leaving the UK, and the mistake could have been rectified. This holiday involved 5 flights: I could have been denied boarding at any one of them. Surely it would be sensible to continue to issue e-tickets for long haul flights.  I reported this to customer services on my return, 19. February, but have had no response.  Yet another instance of the inaccuracies and errors in the paperwork for this tour. JY back office need to up their game.

I received a reply yesterday, but am not entirely happy with the response. I had a really horrible experience in Laos. I certainly wouldn’t want to go through that again. No blame on the check in staff, they were doing their job. Their supervisor made the decision to allow me to travel, but things could have been so much worse.

Am looking forward this trip and meeting my fellow travellers.

When we are in Strasbourg at the end will there be time to go on the boat trip?  I was there last Spring when I went on the JY Strasbourg to Budapest trip and noticed the boats.

Thanks

Hi Wharole,

This would depend on your flight time. You may have to go straight to the airport or have a city tour or some free time.

The best thing to do is to check with your Tour Manager who will have all the final timings for your flight transfers and they will be able to advise on whether there is time.

Many thanks,
Vickie
