Christmas in Andalucia
Post: #1
I thoroughly enjoyed my Christmas holiday in Mijas.
However, there are possible improvements which could be made to this trip.

The main problem, to which most people agreed, was that the group was much too large.  69 people cannot possibly get to know each other and at times, it was a little chaotic trying to please everyone.  My condolences to our travel guides, Anna and Tracey,  who did try their very best to please everyone.
When I travelled with JY to Tuscany there was around 32 people which worked fine.

The hotel, in my opinion was great.  Good staff and a huge variety of good food.
Gabriel, who was the main bar man was superb and worked extremely hard.
Cleanliness was brilliant and the only negative was that the walls that separated the excellent rooms, were very thin; they did n't appear to be soundproof and therefore, if your room was next to someone with hearing problems etc., the noise could be a nuisance especially early in the morning or late at night.

Regarding the excursions, the best one in my opinion, was the one to Frigiliana, which is a picturesque unspoilt little pueblo and then  on to Nerja, another beautiful resort with lots to see and explore.
However, along with the majority of people, there was insufficient time and a whole day in each would have been more than acceptable to the majority of people in our group.
I personally, have visited both Frigiliana and Nerja previously and a suggestion would be to visit Frigiliana for a whole day when it is their market day and then a whole day in Nerja as an additional excursion.

Unfortunately, I was one day too late to book for Granada and the Alhambra Palace and was unable to book it through the travel rep. (my fault, but I was disappointed)
Fortunately, Mijas is such a beautiful pueblo with so much interest, I managed to get over my disappointment lol.
The feedback from other travellers on the trip was that the Gibraltar trip was too long and disappointing with too much freetime.
Perhaps this could be looked into.
I would not hesitate to visit Mijas again and to stay at the same hotel but with a smaller group.

Hi Maria,

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your trip with us, and thank you for this feedback about where improvements could be made.

I have passed this to our holiday organisers so it can be considered for this year Smile

Many thanks
Vickie

69 seriously?  Is this a misprint.  I didn't think coaches were that large and how would they cope on the windy road up to Mijas?

No it was n't a misprint ha ha.  There were two coaches and two travel advisers but they worked together and the only way to separate two groups to work successfully would have been to separate them using two different hotels.
Hopefully, it will be resolved because it would be a pity not to as the hotel was in a great location (unless you prefer close proximity to the beach).
Its about 10 minutes walk to the very pretty village of Mijas but quite a way from the beach. Smile

69 people?! I am presuming you had 2 coaches as i can't see how everyone could fit in one coach. If they did, it must have been a tight squeeze!

Regards

Jaya

Hi all,

Thank you for your feedback on this trip.

Because there was a lot of demand for this trip, we decided to effectively run two groups, each with their own tour manager. However, we have taken on board your comments and we will not be be operating a similar arrangement this year.

Regarding Gibraltar, we are looking into what happened with this trip so we can decide how we can improve things for this year.

Many thanks,
Vickie
