Hi all,

To give you an update on the changes to the itinerary:

The itinerary for 2019 has been changed for a number of reasons. This year we're travelling in September, and our local suppliers, who are experts in the area, have advised us that this is not the best time to visit Fairbanks. It is also possible that due to the time of year the Arctic fly/drive could have been cancelled due to weather conditions, which we wouldn't want to happen.

The new itinerary also reduces time spent on the coach, as the drive from Fairbanks to Valdez is a whole day of travelling. It also means we can offer a sight seeing experience to Wrangell St Elias National Park.

Our must-see attractions remain in the itinerary - the half day cruise through Kenai Fjords, a full day in Denali National Park and a Cruise on Prince William Sound.

The optional excursion ‘Scenic flight into Wrangell St Elias National Park with tour of abandoned mining town’ is £260.

Our web page will be updated shortly to show the full details, thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I have also passed all comments to our team so they are aware of your feedback regarding this trip.

I hope that helps to answer your queries, but please let me know if not Smile

Many thanks,
Vickie

This does confirm the earlier comment that a May or even June departure would have been preferable.

Hi Vickie,
Thank you very much for the explanation regarding the itinerary changes and the thought processes behind them. However this doesn’t explain why the decision was made to travel in September in the first place. As you have pointed out in your reply, travelling in September does bring certain drawbacks in relation to visiting further north so why leave it so late in the year?
It seems to me that JY may have put the cart before the horse in as much as a September departure date appears to be the overriding factor here, and an itinerary put together with that in mind - rather than supplying the very best itinerary with a departure date conducive to that.

Also, could I ask again for some general customer feedback information on the Sept 2018 tour? If you could supply that I would be most grateful.

Many thanks
Mike

Thanks Vickie!

One final question - you mention the timing of the tour is a factor in not offering the Arctic fly-drive excursion.  Do JY have any plans to offer this tour in May/June in future years, so that the Arctic fly-drive could be offered once again?

Best wishes,

Bob

Hi Vickie

Hopefully this tour will still be on offer in 2021 as 2020 is also planned. Maybe I should stop planning so far in advance!

Best wishes

Jaya

Hi Mike,

Apologies for the late reply. We are only able to get dates for our group departures at the beginning and end of the season, due to the supplier.

We are confident in the itinerary, it has been carefully planned with our local agent and they operate back to back itineraries throughout the season.

Customer feedback from our September departure was excellent, all respondents have rated the quality of the holiday and their experience as good or excellent.

I hope that helps!

Many thanks,
Vickie
