Hi Sarah,

Yes, that's correct - you can get your Laos visa on arrival.

Many thanks,

Vickie

Hi SandraV

That is spooky because I e-mailed the embassy too yesterday and got the form back in a couple of hours.  Looks really straightforward and will save queuing.  Slightly more expensive at £35 plus postage but at east it will be in my passport for posterity :D

I can't post mine to the embassy as I have a small trip before Cambodia and need to have my passport. I also am unable to get time off work to visit the embassy. I really just wanted to have the form so that I could save time at Laos airport by having it completed in advance.

I emailed the embassy and they sent the form within a couple of hours.

I am not going to be able to send my passport off either, so was planning on doing the same thing and have the form filled out ready.

Oh good - I'm glad I'm not the only one!

I sent my application for the Laos visa off on Thursday last week and this morning my passport has arrived back with a shiny visa in it.  It said 3 working days on the form and amazingly that is what it took.

Getting very excited now - under 5 weeks to go.

Jonah, That was super quick. However, I think I will wait there. I booked this over a year ago and it has seemed so far away..... Now to prepare in earnest...

Hi Sue, not long now- getting very excited!

I have also got my visa for Cambodia, did the online e-visa. Where did you get the form for the Laos visa? I've looked but can't seem to find anything. I'd like to get as much prepared before hand, otherwise I know I'll panic.

Thanks

Paula

Hi Paula

Sorry I missed your question about the Laos visa.... I got the form from JY. Someone else has pointed out that the photo they require is smaller than the usual passport size. I've only got standard passport size and hope that it will do or can be trimmed.... Does anyone know how important this is please?

It's always the little things that bother me!

Also... I'm booked into premier inn T4 on 5 Nov. It would be nice to try to meet others there although I planned to do that last year and we didn't recognise one another so that didn't work ?

All,

Interesting article in today's (Monday 8th) "i" newspaper about Laos & alms giving etc in Luang Prabang. It does not seem to be online (yet).

Sue: It was probably me who mentioned about the smaller size photo for the Laos visa. I got some at the smaller size in my local photo shop & will get my visa on arrival. I have seen somewhere that they can scan your passport photo if you do not have a pic but would not want to rely on that. Perhaps someone who has got a visa already can clarify....

Hi Sue

I have just read your post about not recognizing anyone when you meet at a hotel the night before departure.

OK, this could be classed as silly, or you could look silly doing it. If you are not wearing a red rose lol, why not have a JY luggage label in your hand swinging it about (or not)  so Jyers will recognize you.

Have a super holiday.

Kind Regards

Di

I did this trip in February. I downloaded the form and filled it in before I went. The problem was there were slightly different forms depending on where you downloaded them from and these said different sizes for the photo. I took some larger ones and some smaller ones.

Someone on the trip found that the reception desk at the last hotel in Cambodia was very helpful. They cut photos down if necessary and stuck them on the forms.

At the border it was a bit bureaucratic, going from one desk to another, but no one had a problem and it did not take very long.

Hi Sue

I used a standard passport photo and just trimmed it slightly.  According to some notes I found by Googling you are allowed some leeway.

If you are at the new Premier at T4 and not Bath Road so am I.  More than happy to meet you at a pre-arranged spot and time.

Hi Sue

Thanks for the update. I managed to get a copy of the form from the embassy, but I'll be getting my visa on arrival, I only have standard passport size photos aswell so fingers crossed it'll be fine. It doesn't seem to say anything on the paperwork about specific sizes.

I'll be getting a lift to Heathrow on the morning, but hoping to meet people at the check in desk- I know I'll panic if I go through to the lounge on my own.

Hi all you lucky people going on this wonderful trip!

I did this trip last November, my first solo holiday and it was amazing

Regarding the photo for Laos, I got mine done in the booth in Asda and just trimmed it to fit the space on the form. Hope that helps!

Hi Jonah,

Unfortunuately you won't be able to check-in online as this is a group booking.

We do pre-seat customers on Vietnam airline but only mostly on international flights.

Please advise what kind of seat you would like us to request for you.

Many thanks,

Vickie

Thanks Vickie

An aisle seat if possible please.  Would you confirm that the baggage allowance for hold luggage is 20 kg on all flights?

Hi Jonah,

We've requested aisle seats for you on all Vietnam Airline flights. You will have 30kgs baggage allowance on all flights.

Thanks,

Vickie

Thanks Vickie.

Sorry to question the baggage allowance but according to the airline website this only applies on the leg from London to Hanoi.  Are the other flights not considered to be within Asia and there will only have 20 kg allowance?

Hi Vickie,

If we can put in a bid for seats with Vietnam Airlines can I also put in a bid for an aisle seat.

Also do you have the final numbers for the main trip and those doing the add on with the usual M/F numbers and age spread.

Thank you, Ian

Hi Vickie. Are you able to request an aisle seat for me on all flights? I am not doing the add on, just Cambodia and Laos. Thank you. Sandra
