I have just returned from this holiday which was ruined by the accommodation and staff at Hotel Parigi. My room was on the 5th floor at the back of the hotel. There was no daylight into the room as 2 of the windows were blacked out and the other 2 had venetian blinds which were broken and could not be lifted. There was also dark blue curtains which were hung on a cord and could not be drawn. To add to the darkness of the room all the furniture was black plastic. The room was thoroughly depressing.
The air conditioning was controlled by the whim of the reception staff so was off for most of the day and went off during the night. The air conditioning unit in my room vibrated so noisily that you couldn't have left it on anyway.
There is a railway line immediately behind the hotel, with the first train at 4 am and the last at 11.30 pm. My room was at the back of the hotel so I got very little sleep as it was so noisy.
The staff at the hotel were rude and unhelpful. We were told to eat in the breakfast room but when I sat down I was told to 'Get out'. The breakfast buffet was OK but the evening meal was very mediocre. There was a choice in the evening between fish and one meat dish - every other course was just a set meal. Out of all the waiters only 2 smiled and tried to be helpful the others were just miserable and rude.
The reception staff were very rude. My duvet was removed from my bed, when I requested another duvet they pretended they didn't know what I was talking about and then when I tried to explain in Italian the man on reception and the housekeeper thought it was hilarious.
Although the card in the bedroom stated that checkout time was 11 am we were told we had to get out at 10 am or the police would be called. There was no where secure to leave luggage it just had to be left in reception.
The tour manager Freddie Morgan was brilliant, he tried his best to sort out all the problems with the hotel but they were just thoroughly obstructive. Freddie's knowledge of the areas we visited was impressive but I was just too exhausted to really enjoy most of the tours.
