Hi Ben, Could you please let me know if JY have any future plans to run a holiday through the Canadian Rockies by train including an Alaskan Cruise? Its a holiday I've always wanted to do and I'm hoping to get there 2014 or 2015. I've seen tours on Travelsphere and Archers that look really good but would much prefer to travel with JY and all the single travellers. Sue

Good morning Sue,

I am sorry we haven't got this tour on offer for 2013, we listen very carefully to our customers and to what tours they would like to see on sale from Just You. I will certainly forward your comments to our product department so they can take this into consideration with future planning,

Thanks very much,

Kindest,

Ben

Hi Sue up to two years ago JY used to offer a trip on the Rocky Mountaineer as well as their Rockies and Vancouver tour. Understandably this holiday was a lot more expensive than the current tour offered and was dropped, I presume due to lack of demand. JY also used to offer an Alaskan cruise add-on to the Rockies/Vancouver tour but this was dropped last year and the reason given was that it was proving very difficult to get a single occupancy agreement with the cruise ship. In any case, I remember reading from some of the reviews that the Alaskan cruise was not really that exciting, so I don't think you'd be missing out that much by just doing the Rockies and Vancouver tour. Hope this help,

All the best,

Bob

I must disagree with Bob. I did the Canada tour with Alaska cruise add-on two years ago and it was extremely enjoyable. It was very popular with most of the group including the cruise. As said previously, this was dropped by JY because of the difficulty obtaining single cabins. As this cruise becomes deservedly more popular so cruise lines can fill their cabins with two occupants.

Sorry, you have missed a great experience!

Hi David, fair enough! I'm only going by what a number of reviewers said about the Alaskan cruise. To be honest, I was surprised by their responses as this was a holiday I had considered doing myself. I'm still planning to do the JY Rockies and Vancouver tour in around three years, if it's still offered then. Who knows, maybe they will find a way around the single supplement issue with the cruise company by then! I see Travelsphere offer it to single travellers with a supplement of around £1,000. Might do that instead, if finances allow!

All the best,

Bob

I agree with David G, I did an Alaskan cruise some years ago, the scenery was spectacular, I am fairly well travelled and this holiday ranks as one of my best along with China, but I take the point about single occupancy cabins

The rockies and vancouver trip is on my to do list, and i have been put off by the absence of the rocky mountaineer in the current itinary, im hoping that it will reapear as i would love this to be part of the holiday. As Sue has said, most of the other travel companies include this in their tour but i am currently not brave enough to travel on my own without JY

Thank you everyone for your comments. I'm not planning to go to Canada/Alaska until 2014/15, so I'll still keep my fingers crossed that JY might think again! I noticed that people share rooms on safari, so perhaps some people might be willing to share for a few nights on a cruise. I won't give up, as it's been a dream of mine for too long to see those places. I love natural landscape and wildlife more than cities and buildings and places like Glacier Bay sound just wonderful to me. Sue

Hi Sue, who knows our paths may cross on this tour as I'm currently thinking of doing it around then! I personally do not wish to share a room/cabin at all and that is the one thing that has put me off wanting to do the Kenya tour! I'd prefer to do that one with Travelsphere as a single traveller and pay the single supplement!

All the best,

Bob

Hello all,

I wish that JY would consider doing a cross Canada rail journey. I know that Travelsphere do a similar holiday starting in Toronto but then fly to Banff and finally do the Rocky Mountineer to Vancover. Being a train jeek I would like to do the 5 days completly on the train incorporating the stop overs in the Rockys which Travelsphere do!

The cruise does not interest me but I think there would be loads of interest in some aspect of tours of Canada again. Lets hope so!

Eric.
