To Mick & Monty - thank you for your replies!

I'll probably forego the river cruise as there is an included one in New Orleans anyway, in order to visit my muesum of choice and tidy up any loose ends not covered by the included tour on day two.

Also Mick, thanks for the detailed information on the buses, I'll be sure to mark these locations on the maps I'll be taking with me!

Cheers,

Steve

Steve,

The museum of science and industry is a bus ride (about 30 mins) from central Chicago cant really do it on the trains. Its well worth a visit a few of us went in our free time on the same holiday, you need at least half a day there.

You can use 2 buses to get their (and back)

No10 bus - Is the Museum special and drops you at the door, you can catch this at stops along Michegan Ave between the Hancock Tower and the river near your hotel. Check timetable though because it doesn't run all year round and sometimes just weekends,

No6 bus - Is the Jackson Park Express and drops you off over the road, we had to use this one. You can catch it just over the river on Wacker Drive, Cross Michegan Ave bridge and turn left its the first bus stop you come to.

Buses are regular in each direction and not expensive.

Mick

Hi Steve,

The optional River Cruise in Chicago will take place of day 3. After breakfast, your whole day is your own to spend as you wish, so plan your time and make the most of your time in Chicago.

Kindest regards,

Monty

Hi, could you please give me an idea as to when the optional River Cruise to admire Chicago's Architecture would take place on this holiday? The reason I ask is that it must be pre-booked 14 days prior to departure, but I am hoping to find time on day three (which is free to explore further) to get down to the Museum of Science & Industry (most likely by public transport).

Thanks in anticipation,

Steve
