Hi Dave, thanks for the info. I'm glad it's 23kg for the 18 day Mexico flights although I think it's only 20kg for my connecting flights! Fingers crossed all goes well.....

Cheers,

Bob

No point in taking the risk - better to be on the safe side and travel with the minimum allowance to allow for the internal flights.

Hi Bob

can't remember who told me this before might have been a tour manager but there may be a little leway given if your holiday includes internal flights where the baggage allowance is lower, however i wouldn't guarantee this as may depend on the airline and the jobs worth

Dave

Hi Dave, what do you mean by "travellers allowance?" I haven't heard of that before!

Cheers,

Bob

on our Vietnam trip recently one of our party was well over the 20kg but under 23kg and there wasn't a problem and another was made to rummage through her suitcase to remove batteries at Ho Minh city airport, never known that before, also a good tip if there is a problem when you are slightly over is to mention Travellers allowance

regards

Dave

Hi all, I did ask at a check in desk once about the luggage allowance - why it was 20kg for a short hop flight rather than 23kg for long haul. The response I got was that generally the check in staff don't bother if your luggage is over 20kg once it's under 23kg - but you might just get the occasional check in person who is a jobsworth and decides to charge you excess baggage!

Cheers,

Bob

Thanks Pahill - that is interesting. Jaya - I am less worried about the weight limit more about the Easyjet or Ryanair type 'cage' that you may have to demonstrate your bag fits into or it has to go in the hold.
I've had this problem a number of times with Just You holidays and it's always a talking point / grumble / complaint by everyone on the holiday that it restricts souvenir purchases before the last leg. On a multi-thousand pound holiday I don't think it's too much to ask to include the excess baggage charge to bump up the baggage allowance on all internal flight legs to be the same as the international legs; then the stress goes away.

Adding £30 to a £3,000+ holiday is not the end of the world for me and I don't think it will push customers over the edge into the arms of your competition with that kind of price uplift. This is the number one change I'd like to see Just You implement - and I say that having done 12 holidays with Just You; or at the very least price it as an option at the point of booking, then if somebody doesn't want it, fair enough - they don't have to buy it.

If it says that the hand luggage should weight 7kg maximum, then I doubt if you can take a big case onboard, but I may be wrong!

Hi Jonah,

I have checked this with our agents and I am waiting on a reply. I can't imagine it being any different to another airline, in that it would have to be small enough to fit in the overhead compartment.

I will update you when I have some news.

Kindest regards,

Monty
