Hi, I'm new here and havn't so far travelled with JY, but I have been to Egypt twice, I consulted my GP on the merits of a rabies jab and he asked me if I was going as an independant traveller or with a tour. I told him I was travelling with a tour and staying at 5* hotel and cruising for 7 days, he said no need for rabies jab (which can provoke a pretty bad reaction) just stear clear of all and any dogs, cats etc.
Also advised on eating and guarding against tummy upsets, outside hotel e.g. on cruise ship, do not eat salad (which may have been washed in unclean water) do not take ice in your drinks, only eat ice cream bars such as Magnum, not soft ice cream, which may contain unpasturised milk. Ask for hot milk to take with tea. and the obvious one is to drink only bottled water, but when buying this from street vendors (at the Pyramids for eg)make sure the seal is in place before opening. I followed his advise and I was the only one on the tour that did not suffer with a tummy upset during the 12 day cruise and stay holiday. Hope you enjoy your trip Linda x
