Thanks Julia!

US dollars usually seem to be the way to go these days.

Hi,

The local currency is the Nuevo Sol. Only a few bureaux de change in Lima will exchange currencies other than US Dollars and outside Lima, it is virtually impossible. US Dollars can be exchanged everywhere and banks, hotels and many shops also readily accept US Dollars (it is worth noting that very old, torn or damaged notes are usually rejected).

All major credit cards are accepted but usage may be limited outside of Lima. However, ATMs are regarded as one of the best ways to obtain money in Peru.

Kind regards

Julia, your editor

Hi,

What sort of currency to you recommend taking on your Peru holidays?

Thanks.
