Thanks for getting in touch with these very good questions! You don't have to wear socks although we would recommend wearing slipper socks as the floors are cold and can be a little slippy. Backpacks are absolutely fine on the train. We hope you have a wonderful time!

Preparing for my trip: Do you have to wear socks all of the time so that your feet are covered when you take shoes off when entering buildings? I am unsure of the rules on carrying a backpack on the train, are they allowed?
