Thanks everyone for sharing your wonderful JY memories! 🙂
Two most memorable from the many JY holidays I have been on: New Year in Iceland with fireworks going off at midnight as far as the eye could see. We all agreed best display ever.

Second, memorable for being the most emotional during my very recent Japan holiday. I must admit to being rather unsympathetic prior to visiting Hiroshima but the film of the effect of the bomb on young children had me in tears.

Hi all. I think I'm going to have to go with the moment I stepped onto the Great Wall in China. The sense of history benath my feet truly moved me. Definitely an experience that I will not forget.  🙂

Perhaps my favourite memory is bobbing about on a river in Borneo, in a small, patched, fibreglass boat, drinking tea out of china cups!, watching wild Orang Utans, in particular a mother and baby, high up in the forest canopy. Or...................

this was the first memory that came to mind for me too and also seeing the pygmy elephants cross the river in the rain was memorable too!  It was a fanastic trip.

Coming out of the Siq and there was the Treasury, my first camel ride, Petra.

Aida being sung at the Arena in Verona.

First Gondola ride with coffee and cake in St Mark's Square, Venice

Cathedral in Volterra- magnificent painting

Singapore- Marina Bay Hotel, Gardens on the Bay

New Zealand- Hobbiton, flight around Mount Cook and 3 glaciers landing at Lake Tekapo with a visit to Church of the Good Shepherd. Plain window at the Altar with a view over the Mountain range- spectacular. Milford Sound- penguins, Dolphins and seals.

Memphis and New Orleans for the music

For sadness, then it has to be Christchurch and the original picture of their Cathedral next to the ruins since the big earthquake in 2011. My daughter was there in 2005 and has some beautiful pictures of it.

For the thrill- The Tilt at the Hancock Tower, Chicago and the 2.66 earthquake that I felt in Wellington.

So many memories, where to start!

Beautiful sunset in Kruger; close encounter with elephants in Knysna and cheetahs in Zambia; 30 minute Microlight flight in Zambia; dinner on Livingstone Express in Zambia; Stay on a houseboat in Kerala; going up Pacaya Volcano on a mule in Guatemala or was it Belize? - can't remember!; wild orangutans and pygmy elephants in Borneo; waking up to a room full of flying ants/moths in a lodge in Borneo; losing my footing and going flying at Pachira lodge in Costa Rica whilst trying to take a photo of a Mexican porcupine up a tree; zip wire in Costa Rica; seeing a pride of lions in Masai Mara (my dream come true); very early morning Balloon flight in Masai Mara and the amazing views from it; climbing Sydney Harbour Bridge; cuddling a Koala in Kuranda and first one to spot a wild koala whilst returning from Barossa Valley in Adelaide - too many beautiful memories to recall.

Regards

Jaya

We had just sat down for our first evening meal at The Mara Simba Lodge in the Masai Mara when we suddenly heard the faint stomping of feet, growing louder and louder, quite scary accompanied by chanting. Then we saw  them. A small group of Masai warriors, in single file, wearing their traditional checkered clothing, carrying their sticks entering the restaurant, stomping to the front. Once at the front the warriors entertained us with their fantastic jump dancing, the height they jumped had to be seen to be believed and all synchronized! Not to be out done one of the chef's, a Masai himself, wearing his chef's whites and hat joined them.

The wonderful memories of that evening are as vivid now as they were back in 2007 when I did this trip, one of my first JY holidays.
