Hi Will

Thanks for your reply. I can understand the reasoning for not arranging a Manchester flight for June. Today I've booked for 9th June from Heathrow and asked for a connecting flight from Manchester that morning. I mentioned to the Holiday advisor that you said there was one at 8.30 and your name is mentioned in the request. Hope that's ok 🙂 . I'm waiting for confirmation and fingers are crossed that BA will do the 8.30 flight. Thanks for your help.

Great! let me know how you get on Liz!

Hi Lizzie,

Thanks for your comments. I will be honest, it is uinlikely we would do a Manchester dedicated flight on a June date for this tour because the demand is lower than during the fall foliage season.

Thre is a connecting flight from Manchester which would work very nicely for this tour though. it leaves Manchester at 8.30. It is with BA which is the same airline as the international flight so your luggage will be checked all the way through to Boston. You arrive and depart at Heathrow terminal 5 as well so it is a really simple connection to make.

Hi Will

Is it at all possible to organise a Manchester flight in May/June 2014 to Canada & New England - Ref SUNCF. I would love to do this trip but prefer to go in summer. I see that Travelsphere do a trip in May from Manchester - Ref UNCF, so obviously flights and hotels ARE AVAILABLE then, but I really want to travel with a solos group (I've done about 9 hols with Just You and loved them all).

You do have a flight from Heathrow on 9th June with a depart time of 1120hrs which is early for the connecting flight from Manchester (£129) so I would probably need to travel a day before and pay for a hotel. I can't bring myself to book this 😞 if I have to travel the day before. Travelsphere's flight time is 1530hrs  which would be OK for the connection. Can you do anything to help? A Manchester date would be wonderful and I'd book it tomorrow.

Well done for getting more Manchester departures for us, but please, please try to do something for us Scots. I got home from Jordan last month after midnight, having been up since 3am. The plane was late, baggage handlers very slow, so I missed connections. I was on the last train on a Saturday night from Carlisle with all the drunken teenage revellers returning from their night out. That is not an experience I would willingly repeat!!!!

Please?

With no disrespect to the above 🙂 Manchester is far more than a few hours away from London. Not sure about the driving issue but travelling down from Nottingham to Gatwick by coach takes close to 5 hours and with changes the train is not a lot less. I did the long haul back from Gatwick yesterday and I know that no-one can help traffic but the M25 was a nightmare and I think I finally got home about 11pm after leaving the hotel for Pisa airport at 10am, NOT Just You's fault and I recognise the fact that they invariably have to use carriers out of London. Even Heathrow is a better option for me than Gatwick.

I like Just You. The organisation is wonderful and they do a nice range of holidays. Looking at the European holidays that I can do next year though so many of them have early departures and late arrivals which put an extra 2 nights hotel on top of the cost. I think I shall have to go through holidays that do NOT go from Gatwick and then see what is left.

Nice one BosunCat! and I thought I got home late at 7:30pm! still, I managed to catch the 2nd half of Murder, She Wrote. Love my Jesswica Fletcher mysteries.

Manchesters not that far up! might even consider flights from there if its easier to get back to Bristol from than Gatwick!

at the risk of sounding like the North/South divide, the reality is that most people traffic is from the South, so that's where the demand is and where the majority of flights have to originate from. i'm from the South West, it may take me 2 hours to Heathrow by Coach (train is quicker ) and 3 hours to Gatwick, but to be honest I would rather do that than fly from my regional airport which is 30 mins away and lacking the facilities of London. For early flights I book overnight near the airport I'm going from, am happy to do that and treat it as part of the holiday.

i really cant understand why people FLY from Manchester, its a few hours from London by car or train! Booking in advance gets a cheap rail or coach ticket, so it must be more expensive to fly, and I cant see that its any easier than going to Heathrow or Gatwick (I have flown from Manchester, so have experienced the Airport).

London is more Centric based for most people and easy to get to, if it was reversed and most flights were from Northan Airports, I think a large porportion of customers would not go and use another holiday firm. At the end of the day its down to demand and cost, and flying from London Airports for most people and tour operators is the cheapest and eeasiest option.

Hi all,

So to be honest, I don't have much sympathy for those who keep on asking for Manchester departures, it's only 3 hours from Heathrow!! Having said that, I hope they are very happy when they see the new brochure!

Thanks Hils for the back up!

All the best,

Bob

Would you be saying that if it was people from down south who had to travel north to fly from Manchester. Its not just the travel time thats affecting us its the £200+ extra on top of your holiday due to the extra travelling we have to do that people are having issues with.

I go to Croatia in just over a week and have to fly down to heathrow so a flight which leaves around 11.30am i have to be up at 4am to get a flight from manchester to heathrow. Then coming home I have a 4 hour wait round heathrow airport before i can get my flight back to Manchester.

Because of the lack of flights from Northern areas this is my last holiday with Just you as I feel I cant justify all the extra cost and inflated travelling time thats involved, The holidays themselves are fantastic and cant fault them but the flights situation is the fly in the ointment. Just you would vastly increase its custom if it arranged more flights from up north but it seems unless you live south of watford then you have to like it or lump it.

Hi Saints96.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread - we now have a Manchester dedicated departure on every long haul tour that we do where there is a suitable carrier.

We also offer departures from regional airports on all of our European holidays where a suitable carrier exists.

We are doing all we can to serve people in different parts of the country. We cannot get away from the fact that London airports have the connections to every corner of the globe though.

Thanks

Will
