We have been in talks with our team overseas and at the moment, the itinerary remains unaffected. Temporary closures have been taking place but of those featured on the Just You tour (2 visits), these are due to reopen in coming days, prior to the groups arrival. We are of course, monitoring this situation closely.

I emailed customer services about amendments to the itinerary due to the virus and was told there would not be any! How can this be true?

On checking the hotels they are altering breakfast arrangements to a fixed menu instead of a buffet.

Hi Julia yes I hope the holiday is wonderful despite many tourist attractions being closed and I don't end up in quarantine. A tad anxious about trip?

I received information about our luggage for the train in my final documents. It said our luggage would be transported to our hotel and arrive there sometime in the afternoon.

With the on going Coronavirus in Japan at the moment, how will Just You deal with the closure of certain visitor attractions on our tour?

I have seen that Osaka castle has been closed to tourists and the Peace museum in Hiroshima. There could be others.

In terms of taking luggage on the trains - yes, There is room in each carriage - luggage shelves at the end of the carriage for oversized luggage and and overhead rail for smaller cases. Porters will take you luggage from the coach to the platform and will also be asked to help place them on the train.

We would recommend a case that you can easily wheel/carry

I’m just looking at what’s the best luggage to take to Japan, as we will be travelling around a lot.

Will we be able to take our luggage on the Shinkansen train, or will it be forwarded on to the next hotel for us? If so when will it arrive could it be the next day?

What type of luggage would you advise will be the easiest to manage on this tour please?

In terms of budgeting, this is a very personal thing. But there are some things to help. Firstly. All of your trips are included so no need to worry about carrying additional cash for optional excursions.

Looking through the itinerary you have many of the meals included and only need to budget for 2 dinners and your lunches. In an "average" restaurant you'll be able to eat for between 1000-3000 yen. Many of these will have set lunch menus at around 1000-1500 yen. There are cheaper restaurants where you'll be to get simple dishes like noodles for between 500-1000 yen.

While Japan historically has a cash culture, debit/credit cards are becoming more widely accepted but worth checking with the restaurant before you order. You should also be able to withdraw cash at an ATM in post offices and some shops (just let the Tour Manager know and they'll be able to advise the closest ATM).

The only other thing you need to consider is whether you purchase any souvenirs to take home and remember your trip by.
