I've been on this tour, stayed at the hotel in question and am happy to reassure you.

I have also noted a number of comments in the reviews - primarily about the hotel food. I agree that it is Mediterranean and quite simple but it is also included in the tour price and, as has been discussed on other threads, this means that the Hotel are working to a 'per head' budget set by JY, so any lack of choice or quantity is not entirely their fault. On the plus side, the Hotel is located central Pompeii, just off the main square where there are a huge number of dining options to choose from for non-included meals.

It is true to say that the Hotel building is old and a little bit tired in places (as are most of the buildings in 'modern' Pompeii) but it is clean and comfortable. It is a family run business (Dad on reception, son & daughter waiting tables etc) and the staff are wonderfully friendly and can't do enough for you. In my case, that meant making me a surprise birthday cake when they spotted my D.O.B in my passport - a lovely touch.

To summarise, I really would not be put off by the comments. Compared to some I have stayed in, this is a nice little place and has the benefit of a lovely roof terrace with a little hot tub and superb views of Vesuvius. It is also a minute's walk away from the Circumvesuviana train station if you are feeling adventurous and want to go off on your own during your free time (just be very aware of your bag/phone/watch etc as there are pickpockets about). This is a super tour with lots of fascinating and varied excursions. Go for it - you won't regret it.

I'm interested in the Pompeii tour & I've been reading the reviews. I've noticed that there are a few comments about the hotel - nothing major that would deter me from booking, but interested to hear if these were followed up & what the outcome was.

I've had another look  the comments I read relate to Hotel Palma but the trip in Feb 2020 is Villa Romana Hotel so it looks as though there has been a change!
