Itinerary

DAY 13 Bangkok

Day 14 Kanchanaburi

An early morning start where you will meet your guide at your hotel and then drive to Ratchaburi to visit the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. Commerce of this gracious kind is still common in Thailand. Enjoy a long tail boat trip along canals leading to the market, where hundreds boats line up to sell goods.

We continue our journey to Kanchanburi town where you will visit the famous “Bridge over the River Kwai” which is located not far from the city centre. This bridge was first built as a part of the railway between Thailand and Burma in 1942, during WW2. Using the forced labour of their Allied POWs, the Japanese planed to build a railway across East Asia to British India. 16,000 Allied POWs (of 65,000), and 100,000 local people died of starvation, exhaustion, diseases, and malaria fever during this time. Visit War museum & War cemetery before taking a ride on the notorious Death Railway. Later today we check in at your hotel were the rest of you day is free at leisure.

Day 15 Erawan National Park/Bangkok

This morning we transfer to Erawan National Park to visit the Erawan waterfalls. The 7 levels of this stunning waterfall drops 1,500 m. down steep-sided cliffs. It is surrounded by beautiful forest with many types of trees and orchids. There is a trail as far as the 6th level and from there you have to scramble up the cliff to reach the 7th level. The climb is well worth the effort, for the sight of tumbling water, spraying off the boulders into the deep pool below. This fall resembles the head of the Erawan Elephant-the 3-headed elephant from Hindu Mythology-which gives the whole waterfall its name. Afternoon, visit the Hell Fire Pass Memorial Museum, this is a part of the Death Railway that was constructed during the Second World War using POW labor to cut through the mountain. Along a 4-kilometer walking trail made by the Allied prisoners visitors can envision the difficulties faced in constructing the Death Railway using simple tools. The pass is approximately 500 meters long and 26 meters deep. In 1943 Australian POWs employing hand drills, picks and shovels, baskets and dynamite completed it within six weeks. There is also a museum displaying contemporary photographs, maps, models, illustrations, etc. from the period. Late afternoon, we transfer back to Bangkok for check in at your hotel and free day at your leisure.

Hi

I am looking at the Thailand holiday in January or February 2020 and would quite like to include an add on to the basic trip.  The website has two option Cha Am and River Kwai but no details about what the add on would include, where the accommodation would be and if there are excursions - or if it is accompanied by the TM.  Can you provide any details?
