It once took me over 6 hours to drive home from Gatwick to Northamptonshire and I said never again!

However, I am flying out of Gatwick to Cuba with JY in 6 weeks. Hotel room booked for the night before and crossing my fingers for the journey  home :)

Looking forward to meeting you Tony. Tried to contact you via the forum but failed

Looking forward to meeting you too, I thought you may have been ignoring me ??, I’m staying at Crowne Plaza the night before and getting the shuttle bus to the terminal. getting really quite excited now.

Love Gatwick - cheaper to park at then Heathrow - which is really close to where I live. Also they have a great premier in - which is just a short walk to the terminal... you cant beat it.

I hate going from Gatwick but just grit my teeth and get on with it.  London City is my favourite then Heathrow.  Would like to give the newly developed and renovated Southend a go.  Don’t like the crowds at Stansted so pay £15 to use the lounge and enjoy a calmer start to my wonderful JY Hols.  Happy travels everybody from wherever you fly.

Personally I don’t see what the problem is with Gatwick, I live in Bristol so it’s about 140 miles for me, but I just drive up the night before for early morning departures, book a hotel for the night including parking for around 70 quid for a week, and stay overnight and get the shuttle in the morning. It really couldn’t be much more convenient unless you really want everything available on your doorstep. Even if you can’t drive there are loads of National Express coaches from most big towns and cities, and the cost of that and an airport hotel is just something that needs to be thought of as part of the holiday! The original poster says it’s expensive to get to Heathrow, well there’s a bus from Gatwick to Heathrow for about £40 return, hardly going to break the bank is it, compared to not going on a holiday just because it doesn’t go from Gatwick! Just adding my point of view, please don’t take offence.

I agree with you Sarah, Gatwick is the worst airport for me to get to from Newcastle. I think JY need to offer a choice of airports for each holiday, Gatwick/Heathrow, Manchester, Edinburgh,  etc, then at least it makes it a bit easier to get to one airport for most of us. I don’t expect JY to offer flights from my local airport all the time, but only offering one airport does sometimes affect the choices I make when choosing a holiday because of the additional expenses/time off work for hotel/internal flights, etc.  Even just offering 2 or 3 airports would help.

Totally agree with you.  Gatwick is a nightmare, so if it does not go from Heathrow then neither do I.  Even Manchester is hell to get to by road these days (I am near Scotch Corner) and rail is not really an option for me. So it is Leeds/Bradford, no good if your luggage gets left behind, or Newcastle to Heathrow for me.

Hi all,

Just to hopefully answer a few queries:

We currently have 63 tours that fly from London Gatwick, of which 62 fly direct. We’re always looking at further options available and we’ll continue to offer the choice and flexibility that our customers are asking for.

In our latest brochure, because local flights are constantly becoming available, we are asking you to give us a call if there is a tour date you’re interested in and you can’t see your regional departure airport online, so we can look at all the options at the time of booking. We do currently offer local flights from around 30 airports in the UK.

I hope this helps 🙂

Many thanks,

Vickie
