If anyone has done this trip already, I know dollars are required, but roughly how much do you think I will need.

Any help would be lovely.

Della

Just returned from the Vietnam/Cambodia Christmas break.

The cash machines (ATM) in Cambodia all issue dollars where as those in Vietnam issue local currency and the hotels in Vietnam will only exchange Dollar or Sterling cash for local currency and Hotels won't deal with credit/debit cards for currency exchange.

In Cambodia you pay for everything in dollars and only get change for the less than $1 part all in local currency the rest is in dollars.

In vietnam pay in local or dollars but change received in local currency.

The hotels will of course allow you to pay for room items charged to be paid for with a credit/debit card which helps.

Don't forget tips for local guides, dollars or local, as well as personal spending. Not much required on food items but TukTuk rides into town on days off as well as souvenirs, coffee/drinks etc.

Good Afternoon Della,

How much you bring will depend entirely on your own personal choice.
