Thats a lot of beans and eggs Bob.  If it had been an increase of £300-£400 I  wouldn't have given it too much thought, but upwards of £1000!!!, the seems really excessive to me.

I haven't ruled out the idea of going altogether, but when I enquired on the numbers for May 2018, just 3 weeks ago, only one person had booked.  That number could well have gone up since then and there is still plenty of time to book, but I believe in May 2017 there were 18 on the trip (not 100% sure), and that in May 2016 it was fully booked (again not 100% sure).  It all seems very slow off the mark for a holiday that has been very popular in the past, bearing in mind the balance needs to be paid in 3 months time.

I'm now waiting to see the full itinerary and cost for the Galapagos Islands, that might well turn out to be a holiday worth eating beans on toast for, it wont be cheap I know, but even then there is a limit to what I am prepared to spend.

Best regards

Avocet

Hi Avocet,

I did this tour in 2015 and absolutely loved it - like you, I was surprised to see such a huge price hike for 2018.  Although it is now very expensive at £4,200 I would still very much recommend it to you.  It was wonderful from start to finish - amazing landscapes at Sossusvlei (including the highest dunes in the world), a wonderful catamaran trip in Swakopmund and fantastic wildlife in Etosha (on a par with Kruger).  I do hope you go (beans on toast can be very tasty with a fried egg on top!!).

All the best,

Bob

Hi Avocet,

Sorry for the delay on this, as you are probably aware, we put dates on sale up to 18 months ahead of departure, since the dates for 2017 went on sale and to try and keep the price down we had absorbed the significantly increased costs associated to operating this tour this year. However, we are unable to continue doing so and the team have reluctantly made the decision to increase the prices for 2018.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Hi Amy

Could someone at JY please explain to me why the huge price hike in this holiday, bearing in mind the cost was set in May of this year.  I would like to catch up on this holiday as it is one I have been pushing back for others that appealed more, and with all the fiasco of the non appearance of a new September brochure I thought now might be an ideal time to go, but, I am very reluctant to pay such a huge increase, so its likely I will have to let it pass altogether.

Many thanks

Avocet
