Good plan Bob.  As you say most TM's are happy to be flexible so the response was slightly unexpected. Good luck and I hope it works out for you.

I hope we get to see it, and get a TM that is a little flexible.

And thanks Jonah.  🙂

Thanks Jonah, I am going to give JY the benefit of the doubt for the moment and presume that they have a fabulous action packed day prepared for us when we go to Rethymno and Eleftherna! Although I have to say I would much prefer to see a beautiful view of a lake than more old ruins...I will ask the TM and local guide when we are there and see what the plan is for that day and perhaps they may be able to rejig things.  On numerous JY tours the itinerary has been altered to fit in some surprises and extra events to enhance the holiday and who knows, perhaps I have spoiled a surprise they may have in store for us!  Of course, it may become clear when we are there that there is a good reason why they cannot include Lake Kournas although I do wonder what that could be - my friend who is staying just east of Chania says it is around 20 minutes away from her and is a very popular spot for photos and a trip on the lake.  So we shall see...

Cheers,

Bob

I have to say I agree with Bob and this doesn't sound like what we expect of JY. :dodgy:
Thanks Elaine - perhaps the TM and local guide may prove amenable?  Here's hoping!!

All the best,

Bob

I agree with Bob, Mildred.  It's such a shame that a small stop couldn't be fitted into the itinerary.  😞
Thank you for your reply Mildred.  That is extremely disappointing as we would be passing nearby.  Many of the websites I have looked at have listed Lake Kournas as one of the biggest highlights on the island, so to miss out when we are so near is a real shame.  The excursion that day had better be really good to make up for it, or else I will be extremely annoyed.  A friend of mine is in Crete at the moment and she said it is one of the "must do" places to see.  As I live in Ireland I don't have the opportunity to see the beautiful lakes you no doubt have in the UK.  By the way, I see that the picture of Balos beach has now been removed from the website.  After doing some more research, I have come to the conclusion that it would take too long to reach from Chania and we would be stuck there for hours before we could catch the bus back to the port, so it is a non starter.

Bob

Good Afternoon Bob,

I apologise for the late response.

I have spoken with a colleague and I have been told that the group won’t be making a stop at Lake Kourma as what seems like a simple stop could potentially put an hour onto the day. The agent has said although a nice lake we have much nicer here in the UK.

Kind Regards,

Mildred

Hi Mildred,

Another question for you I'm afraid!  On the days we visit either Rethymno or Heraklion will we be stopping off for a photo stop at Lake Kournas?  It is incredibly scenic and as we will be passing quite nearby on both those days could we stop there for a few minutes?  I imagine it would suit better on the Rethymno day as we wouldn't be travelling so far that day.  I do hope this is possible as it would be a terrible shame to be so close and not have the opportunity of seeing such a beautiful place, even for just a few minutes.  Here are some photos of it:

Best wishes,

OK thanks Mildred, I will talk to the TM about it after we arrive.

Many thanks,

Bob
