Hi Hils

Thanks for getting back. I got my call today from JY. KLM from Edinburgh to Amsterdam, then Amsterdam to Chengdu. Glad only 2 flights, same as before for me. I see we arrive a couple of hours later than originally planned.

Just glad it's all sorted.

I've just looked at the  KLM website. It seems the flight from London to Chengdu involves 2 changes.  The final leg is via China Southern Airways.  I hate to think what the total journey time will be.  There must be better flight options.

Moderator,  could you confirm the  routing for all flights from London  to Chengdu and provisional flight  times  please.

Good Afternoon SarahS,

You will be receiving a call from one of our customer services advisors soon if you are booked on to this tour.

Kind Regards,

Mildred

Hi Hils,

A direct flight from Glasgow? Sounds good. I could do that too.

Could you let me know what flights/airline you get arranged going outbound. I'm intrigued.

I just keep getting the aviation team will be in touch.

Many thanks.

Angie

Hi Angie,

It's not a direct flight from Glasgow - you do have to go to Amsterdam first as the Heathrow flight does too. The flights depart/arrive at very similar times, so fingers crossed that I can cut out Heathrow altogether.

Cheers,

Hils

Hello both

I used KLM extensively for business flights to Europe (all via Schiphol) for over 20 years, and found them to be consistently good, so I would happily use them for long-haul flights as well. Flights from over a dozen airports in the UK all connect with international flights using KLM's regional 'Cityhopper' subsidiary, so I  never had to travel via London.

As I recall, KLM Cityhopper flies from Glasgow and/or Edinburgh, but I don't know whether the timings are convenient. If not, I know that Easyjet flies to AMS from Glasgow/Edinburgh as I have a friend in Edinburgh who uses it regularly to Europe.

You are most welcome and Thank You. I am always happy to help.

I have just spoken to my colleagues and they need your booking reference for the tour so they can provide this information for you as soon as possible.

Hi Mildred,

I managed to speak to Victoria on the phone (before the phone system crashed!) and we are sorting out flights, hopefully direct from Glasgow for me, etc.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers,

Hils

Hi Hils

Surprised that you had bad experience with South African Airways as I had a good experience and I rather fly with them then BA.  I did not enjoy flying BA to and from South Africa recently.  Hope you have a good experience with KLM.  I have not yet had a pleasure to fly with them, but who knows I may when I do this trip.

Jaya

I agree with Jaya re. South African Airways. I went with them a couple of years back when I went to South Africa with JY. Found them absolutely fine and would happily go with them again.

Hi Mildred,

Re China and Tibet May 2017 - will the airline be KLM just for the flight to Chengdu, or will it be for the Return flight from Hong Kong as well? I need to know flight times as I have to book my Glasgow to LHR flights. I have also done flight upgrades, so will need to know how this will affect costs etc. ASAP please.

Many thanks,

Cheers,

Good Morning Hils,

Yes, we will be using KLM via Amsterdam for both the main tour and the Hong Kong add on.

We might be able to offer you a Glasgow regional flight for this tour instead of using KLM. All costs will be outlined for you when you are formally contacted about the change.

Kind Regards,

Mildred

Many thanks Mildred. You are much more up-to-date than Customer Services on the phone! I would be most grateful if you could arrange for the new costings (and flight times) to be sent to me as soon as possible. As I am also upgraded on this holiday, this may affect my overall holiday cost as well. It would be preferable if I flew direct to Amsterdam from Glasgow, rather than having to fly to Heathrow, but this will obviously depend on flight times.

Regards,

Hils
