Hi PaulineD,

Whenever I travel, I use the plug that comes with the charger and the correct adaptor that will fit into the wall (in your case it'll be two flat pins) and I have never had any problems. I can't imagine there being any problems in Japan with regards to charging your devices, but if there is I am sure your Tour Manager or your fellow travellers will be able to help you out if necessary.

Kindest regards,

Monty

Thank you Monty.  As I said, that system worked for my trip to China but I didn't want to blow all the fuses in the hotel as soon as I arrived in Japan!!

Best Wishes

If I remember correctly, the 2-flat-pin plug in CN has angled pins, whereas the JP plug has parallel pins - but the pins in the converter should be adjustable between the two configurations, so the same converter should be usable in both countries.

No, there shouldn't be any problem: I took my iPhone, MacBook Air and Nikon camera with me to Japan last year (Tokyo - Matsumoto - Takayama - Kanazawa - Hiroshima - Kyoto) and used the respective supplied chargers with  '3 pin UK' - to - '2 flat pin JP' converters, and I don't recall having  problems charging any of the devices.

You'll enjoy Japan - it's a fascinating country!

Chargers normally contain a transformer usually to convert from ac to dc. I've used a variety of chargers with  the appropriate adaptor    all  over  the world  and never had any  problems.

Hi Monty,

Sorry, yet another question!!!!  Do we a need power convertor for our IPads, Phones, Cameras etc or is it okay to just use the correct adaptor straight into the socket? I believe it is the same adaptor as the one I used for my holiday to China (as far as I know I didn't have a convertor then and everything worked fine.)

Many Thanks
