The national currency for St. Lucia is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar (XCD; symbol EC$) = 100 cents. Notes are in denominations of EC$100, 50, 20, 10 and 5. Coins are in denominations of EC$1, and 50, 25, 10, 5, 2 and 1 cents. US Dollars are also accepted as legal tender.
The Eastern Caribbean Dollar is tied to the US Dollar at EC$2.7 to US$1.
Please note: - US Dollar Travellers cheques are becoming extremely difficult to exchange so we recommend you take US Dollar cash. Places that do exchange traveller’s cheques may charge a 10% handling fee.
I hope this helps.
Kind Regards,
Mildred.
Im booked on the St Lucia hol for November 2016...wondered whats the best currency to take with me?
Kim
There are 10 people booked on this trip, of these, 4 are extending their trip by 5 nights. In regards to the hotel, very few people took up the upgrade - on some trips there was only one person who stayed in the hotel, so we have removed it from the program.
Kindest regards,
Monty
Many thanks
