Just be aware that there is another PI close by and several in the general area so you do need to check you book for Premier Inn - London Gatwick Airport (North Terminal). Also keep an eye out for their price deals - the cost can vary considerably. I understand it is usually cheaper to book on line.

Of course I have to add "other hotels, guest houses and B&Bs are available"!

Just looking at your brochure for the 8 days holidays in Italy. This will be my first time on a plane since 1988.

I have been looking at these hols and notice that they fly from Gatwick and I will have to stay overnight.

Looking at National Express which would mean an overnight travel. Alternatively by rail so can recommend any good hotels to stay at Gatwick.

What are the times of the flights from Birmingham at the beginning of Sept?

I always use Premier Inn Gatwick North. So close to the terminal, even I can walk there in about 5 minutes, with a walking stick, suitcase, handbag, and cabin bag. You can see it as you leave Departures. Book on Premier Inn website and you might get a cheap rate. Prices have gone up recently, but are not extortionate. Make sure you book a table for the restaurant, you can do it at check-in - yes it is good. No need to book a table for breakfast though.

I have done Calabria and Apulia and preferred Calabria. The hotel is so special, and the food marginally better. IMHO.

When I went to Vienna in 2012 it was the first time I had flown for over 20 years, and the first time alone. When the BA steward asked how I was, as we boarded, and I said "a bit nervous", three times from Heathrow to Vienna he stopped and asked if I was OK.

You'll be all right.

I always stay at the Premier Inn (Gatwick North terminal) as it is so close to the departures area. I'm not sure how it compares price-wise, as I also book 8 days parking. The rooms are fine, there is a bar and a Costa Coffee and the restaurant is surprisingly good (in my humble opinion)

I have done a few trips to Italy with JY and so far the Apulia trip has been my favourite.

I stayed at the Premier Inn at Gatwick North Terminal the night before a trio to Italy last year. It was reasonably priced and was very close to the Terminal. I booked it online.

When I have had to stay overnight at Gatwick I have stayed in the Premier Inn which is just across the road from the departures entrance, just a 5 minute walk, I usually use them when I fly from Heathrow as well. I have always found the rooms to be very clean, quiet and comfortable and if you book early enough you might be able to get a room reasonably cheap.

In terms of flights from Birmingham, we only have 2 Escape holidays in Italy with a regional flight from Birmingham.

Lake Como (7th September) departs Birmingham at 06:45.

Riviera Splendour (7th September) departs Birmingham at 15:00

Now whilst we don't offer direct flights for our other Italy Escape holidays, we may be able to find a connecting flight for you. Again, a holiday advisor would be able to share this information with you.
