Hi Kerry,

Absolutely! As long as you have paid your deposit and you pay the full balance by the balance due date, you can pay as much as you like in installments in between.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Thanks Julia,

I wasn't aware you could do this..I hate paying the final sum.. it always makes me feel hard done by lol - I think because I hate seeing my saving going down as it take me so long to save up... not that i regret spending the money if you know what I mean

I do understand that a hefty deposit is not convenient for everyone, but I personally do not mind paying it as it means less to pay when the full balance is due. I start saving towards the full balance once the deposit has been paid to make sure I will have enough! It is true that holidays are getting more expensive, but it is the same with everything else. Every year travel fares and other costs go up regardless of service received or despite no salary increase and we just have to keep on tightening our belts though not sure how far we can do this as soon there will be no belt left to tighten!!

Hi Julia,

Firstly, Happy New Year!

On a similar vein, is it possible when booking holidays to pay in installments? Rather than just paying a deposit and then the balance? Just wonder if this could be an option to look at especially for long haul when the holidays are so expensive and the charge to use a credit card is so hefty.

Kerry

JY Long haul tours incur a whopping ten per cent deposit, but this is in line with most other operators.
Hi Bosuncat,

I have noticed that many other companies have started doing this. It's a pain, i know!

Thanks

Hi Julia.

I hate to be picky but it seems every time I book a holiday the cost of the deposit has gone up. I booked last night and now it has gone up to £175. I was overcharged for deposit on one of my holidays last year and when I booked for Costa de la Luz in September it was £150. Now it has gone up again. It's quite a hefty chunk to find all in one go.

Obviously it is less off the holiday ultimately to find but still quite expensive I think. Saga for example charge £150 deposit for European holidays.

Is there a reason why JY is so much more expensive?

Thanks as always

if this is for the May tour I paid £170 deposit plus £3.40 credit card fee and that was back in May 2014! As you say it's a hefty deposit used to be much cheaper in the short haul tours...

Thanks for the explanation JULIA does explain things

Hi Bosuncat,

So I've had a quick word with the customer services team and I have been told that the the main reason for this increase is that airlines want a higher deposit amount to secure seats and hold our allocation. Unfortunately we need to make sure the deposit is enough to cover the cost of this in the event of a customer cancellation.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Thanks Julia. I understand this. I know at one time holidays by rail incurred a cheaper deposit, so I was just checking.
