Hi Julia

Could you tell me the number currently booked for the September departure and the age range please. I would love to see Tibet, but am very nervous about flying with a lesser known and rated airline.

Hi Sarah,

I flew with China Eastern airlines in September/October 2008 (my very first JY holiday!). They were absolutely fine, the aircraft were all the modern Airbus fleet and the in flight service and food was good and better than that of Air China for our flight home!

I'm just about to book the Land of the Dragon for October or November, this looks like a great tour.

Best wishes

Lynda

Thanks Avocet. I hope you have a wonderful time. Please post a review when you get back.

Hello Sarah

I've booked an earlier date for this holiday. I haven't looked at any reviews for this airline but have read up about them on wikipedia which says they are a major airline in China. I know they are not an airline we hear anything about but maybe that is a good thing. I flew to Peru with Iberia Airlines a few years back when, at the time, they were ranked 42nd out of 42 in a Which? members survey for long haul airlines. The seating and on board service said it all, but they got us there and back safely.

I think this will be a great holiday, the chance to go to Tibet is something I'm really looking forward to. I wouldn't let the airline hold you back, is any airline 100% safe and reliable? I would also add that I am a nervous flyer.

Hi SarahS

At the moment there are three travellers booked on the Land of the Dragon tour, 1 taking the main tour only and 2 booked for the add on. Ages of the group are from early-60s to early-70s.

I recalled someone else on the community talking about China Eastern so I dug out an old email from one of my colleagues which I hope will help calm those nerves a little. We are aware that there are some online reviews that are less than positive, but but we tend to listen to our customers and the satisfaction ratings that we have for this airline are good and are in fact stronger than those of many 'renowned' airlines. China Eastern have improved over the last few years and the feedback we are receiving is reflecting that the changes they have made are for the better.

Hope all of this helps,

Kindest regards,

Julia
