OK. I know what you mean about seeing in the gloom of early evening or after dark. All being well you will get a chance to have a look around in daylight before you need to think about going out at night and so you will be able to check things out for yourself.

If you are thinking of choosing a restaurant along the road in front of the hotel then it is a fairly straightforward paved and road area in both directions, with just the usual kerbs and steps jutting out - all lit.

If you want to get to the sea front do not turn left out of the hotel - as when you turn left again the pavement down to the sea (last September) was badly broken up and even had holes - the road was OK but of course had some traffic! However the pavement when you turn right out of the hotel was OK, a bit narrow in places and then turn right again down to the front - pavement/road - downhill slope going - mostly lit.

We were a varied bunch mobility wise but most of us managed. As usual best to go out with a companion or in a group - that way everyone can be on the lookout for problems underfoot! Don't know when it gets dark in May?

The restaurant in the hotel was fine and you will have already experienced it with the included meals.

Hope this helps. I keep thinking about writing a review and then other things come along and ………….

I will add that roads, pavements, walkways, were often less than even throughout Malta. But we were never hurried along. I would certainly suggest "sensible" shoes or walking sandals; and a stick or trekking pole for anyone a bit unsteady.

Many, many thanks. That is really useful. I use a stick now anyway.

Hi Julia.

I read in Trip Advisor that the hotel for this is going All Inclusive next year. If this is correct are JY likely to add it to their 2 all inclusive holidays (sorry I do not class Sardinia as all inclusive as you have previously stated that although the drinks are AI it does not include lunch :)) Or are you leaving it with just the 3 evening meals included?

Just to say I holidayed with Just You at the San Antonio Hotel and Spa in St Pauls Bay Malta in September. Because of the excellent position of the hotel we were spoilt for choice for places to eat/drink outside the hotel. As a group we had an agreement that anyone who wanted to could meet at 7.30pm in the reception area and we would set out from there. The first free night about a dozen of us took the short walk down to the sea front, which is at the back of the hotel complex, and had a great meal together at a restaurant. The waiters kindly reorganised the tables and looked after us well. Another night a group of us walked a bit further along the seafront to the bustling square and ate outside in the warm evening air - entertained by the local Mini car club who were having a 'concours de elegance' showing off their prized cars. Even had fireworks overhead. That may have been the evening we had cocktails at a bar nearby - can't remember! There were also multiple eateries along the road in both directions in front of the hotel - where we sat out with pavement tables for another meal!

The food in the hotel was good with plenty of choice, but quite busy with the number of (international) tour parties present.

Hi again Kedi, and thank you again for this.

I do want to do Malta at some point!!

And thank you for the info re Mallorca.

Sorry to be a pain again Julia, on the website Magical Mallorca is down as half board but in the brochure it is classed as all inclusive. Which is correct please?

Sorry to be so picky!

Hi, for 2015 it will be all-inclusive. The hotel is undergoing refurbishment this winter and will reopen in 2015 with a new name and the board basis as all-inclusive - which includes all meals, all drinks (except international brands) and snacks from 12pm - 1pm and 4.30pm - 6.30pm.

Thanks,

Tim

Hi Bosuncat,

Sorry for the delay in this - my colleagues were having a meeting about it this afternoon and I have just been informed of the outcome of that meeting.

Unfortunately, the contracts with this hotel for 2015 have already been signed so at the minute the holiday will continue to be offered with 3 evening meals included rather than all inclusive.

Kindest regards,

Julia
