Sarah were we really on the same trip? My walk to the restaurant took 10 minutes and yes it was dark but it was a dark and rainy evening, but run down? not the way we went.

Just back from the tour. Will do a review later. Regarding distances from hotels to restaurants, the JY informant must be a sprinter. It took fifteen minutes each way to walk from the Montreal hotel through a very run down and poorly lit area to reach a restaurant.

Bring on the cheesecake. Just started to organise packing. The long range forecast seems a bit mixed, so I am bringing layers and one or two warmer things. See you all at Heathrow.

Just looked up cheesecake menu Boston. Menu looks fab ( didn't realise they did main meals too!) after looking at the cheesecakes, I'm just glad we're in Boston for 3 days so I'll have chance to try more than one flavour. Thanks Jan ( Janib) for the suggestion - it sounds ideal.

Well Caroline, I'll certainly team up to share huge portions, cheesecakes or whatever. I'm ready and excited .. Just the usual difficulty of squeezing everything into my case and leaving room for holiday purchases. Look forward to meeting you on the 29th

Good news that there's a Cheesecake Factory across from the Boston hotel. Love this place. A couple of us will have to team up though as it's a struggle to eat the huge portions of their meals and still have room for their fabulous cheesecakes (assuming you've been able to select just one from their mouth-watering menu!)

Hello Sarah,

I stayed at Midtown in Boston. If you take a right out of the main door there is a Mall full of restaurants about 300 yards down the road and a Cheesecake factory across the road. My daughter Sarah and I had supper then took some cheesecake back to the hotel and watched Boston Bruins who were playing in the Stanley Cup on tv. This was the May of 2011. Love Boston. Toronto is my family home- my Mum's brother married out there so I have loads of relations there.

One of the reasons why I only go on trips that I have never been to before. I know I have done Memphis and New Orleans back in 2008, Route 61 takes in Chicago and St Louis, November 3rd will not come fast enough :)

I wouldn't worry to much, you won't be in your own I have done many USA tours and I am doing this tour leaving on TUESDAY. Not every body want to be in the hotel to eat so there will always be people to buddy up with, that's half the fun trying new places and with different people. You will be fine I am sure.

Hi Sarah, sorry to hear you are feeling nervous. Having checked with the hotels in question, the Fox Ridge have advised that they do put a menu on for our groups so they can eat in-house.

In regard to the Midtown, Boston and Holiday Inn Express, Montreal there are plenty of places to eat half a block away (probably a couple of minutes walk), so you will not need to travel far to eat.
