Hi Roger,

One of my colleagues has provided the following links which you might like to take a look at as these will provide you with the best guidance as they are on the official Australian Customs and Border Protection Service.

hi Roger,

I did the Australia trip a couple of years ago and took my medicine's with me in my hand luggage. I carried a doctors letter with me and a copy of the prescription medicines that were with me.

Not once was I asked about them but you never know if they will. My insulin pens and needles were also with me, again not once was I questioned about them. So it's better to be safe than sure incase they do ask about them.

I agree with the above....

I got called over by security guards on entry to OZ from what was in my bag, which was!!! Packets of soup and pasta meals (I am a vegetarian and carry these meals with me just in case I can't eat what's on offer). I had not declared this as didn't think I needed to stupid me.....luckily my stuff was confiscated with no payment of fine...just a stern warning.

Cindy

I remember when we visited oz last year I had several fruit cerial bars in my case and was a little concerned as they contained fruit but they got there and when we were travelling into Victoria from New South Wales they were very strict with any types of fruit coming into their state, if you had any fruit you had to eat it or get rid of it before they crossed the border
I agree with Julia. Since I quite often watch the Border Control programmes, I know how strict Australia is. You can take some commercially packaged foodstuff in, but make sure you declare everything as the penalty for non declaration is quite high!

Hi Roger,

Australia is very strict on what you can and can't take in to the country. If the food supplements are fitness related or a type of shake then no, you will not be able to take these into the country.

If they are vitamin tablets then you should treat them as if they were prescription medication.

When travelling with prescription medication, you will need to have these in your hand luggage, in the original packaging and with a copy of your prescription.

Kindest regards,

Julia
