I too am going on the Golden West tour in May, It's getting very close now.

Whale watching is something that I would like to do too.

I'm assuming this is the America's Golden West trip so, free time in San Francisco is on the afternoon of day 2 or on day 3 depending on which optional excursions you have booked with Just You.
