Hi Julia

i wonder if you or any of the JY team could possibly tell me which day of our Australia tour the Blue mountains and Featherdale tour will be in Sydney thats if anybody knows yet as am thinking of booking a show in Sydney and would need to book it soon, do you think i would be safe booking my show on our last night in Sydney which would be Thurs 28th Nov

many thanks

Dave

Hi Dave,

The day of the Blue Mountains and Featherdale optional excursion hasn't been confirmed yet, but I've been advised that the day with the most free time in Sydney is the final day, so if you were to book a show this would probably be the best day to do it. If you do decide book a show, please let your tour manager know. This way, if the tour manager needs to rearrange the itinerary or any activities in Sydney for whatever reason, they can take this into account so you don't miss out.

Thanks,

Tim

Thanks Tim

yes i thought the last day be the best possible free day, just that Grease the musical is on at the Lyric theatre whilst we are in Sydney if any other of our Oz travellers are interested to know and is from Oct 13th for 10 weeks, i shall bear what you have said in mind

many thanks Dave

Hi Shelley

it is now less than 9 weeks before we jet off to Australia, it has been an agonising wait for me but it is creeping up fast now, I just break the wait up a bit but now having been to my last event of the summer I just look to see September out then once October has arrived it becomes next month and the weeks will fly, I bought myself a kindle fire a little while ago and loaded several books on to it and some free games and music to pass the time, maybe the odd forty winks in between playing with the flights entertainment, at least the flight is broken into two with 12 1/2 hrs to Singapore the long one, I also purchased an air pillow from Morrisons that folds away neatly in your hand baggage, I hope that the bringing forward of our flight time did not interfere too much with your flight from the north east, I had to book another coach ticket otherwise would have been a little tight

Eric our flight departs at 18.30 now as British airways and gets into Singapore at 15 05 leaving for Perth at 18 35 arriving just before midnight, better I suppose as we only had an hour and a half to change in Singapore so now we have three and a half, my aim is to get to the gate asap then see what time we have and depending how i'm feeling either have a little rest, a look around or even grab a beer or a coffee

Julia - 21 on the main tour, that's good as last time the question was asked it was just 15, have any of the group booked the Alice springs bbq could you please tell me and also when I booked I asked if it was poss I could have an aisle seat especially on the long haul has this been noted or would I need to ask at check in

many thanks

Dave

Hi Dave,

It looks like to date there have been 3 bookings for the Bush BBQ.

I've had a look and there is a note on your booking requesting an aisle seat. Obviously, we can put in this request to the airline but cannot guarantee it they will accommodate it. I would recommend that you ask again at Check-in to be on the safe side.

Kindest regards,

Julia

I've flown between England and Australia about 16 times over many years, I've also lived in Australia for 6 years and backpacked/travelled around most of it.

Of all those 16 trips only 4 were economy, when I was young and could put up with cattle class!

As a minimum economy plus is a must, although I went business for most of my trips. I found having LOTS of achocol most helpful, it's a boring flight if you dont drinl much!

I also found going on walks all over the plane helped, especially walking through economy, to remind myself why I was in business! (although nowadays in these Ultrs Parnoid times of terrorism, it might look a bit suspicious!).

The flight does seem to go on forever, but you will get there, better to do it in comfort!

Upgrade if you can afford it. I always suffer badly from jet-lag (zombie for first few days), so I upgraded to premium when flying to Australia last year. Whilst seats do not fold totally flat, they were flat enough for me to be able to sleep on my side - first time I have ever slept well on a plane. Food, entertainment and service also much better. Have booked premium for this year's flight to NZ.
Hi, I am going on the October trip to Australia, stopping in Singapore on the way out and going on to New Zealand afterwards. I have read the flight tips and will be using them all, trying to get as much sleep as I can also. Thanks everyone.
Many thanks for all the tips and help for my trip to OZ. I think the sleep idea sounds very good. Looking forward to meeting my new 21 friends and counting down the sleeps. Thanks again Shelly 1:)

passing time on flights...I have done the mega long hauls to Australia and also to New Zealand.

Tips...depending On what time flight leaves..

SLEEP!!!!!

Drink plenty of fluids....not to MUCH alcohol

Move around when and if you can to keep the circulation going.

Eat ..it does get so boring I know but it does pass the time.

If you can read (I can't) take a really good book to get lost in

I listen to my iPod (music) or watch films on my iPad.

Or view a film on the plane screens

Sleep ..sleep...sleep...

I am not a great lover of flying and I did wonder how I would cope but you do...and the time does pass by..just think of the adventure you will have on the way out ...on the journey back just think of the people who you can tell all about the great time you have had..

Have a great time..

Cindy
