Amongst that is the "Airport Lounge Confirmation" and contained in that is the statement "The dress code is smart casual. Baseball caps, shorts and football shirts are not allowed"

We leave on midday on Wednesday and arrive at 6:20 the following morning after an 8 hour flight. We don't get an opportunity to change clothes until we reach the hotel in the afternoon. So with temperatures expected around 25º and for such a long time travelling - I intend to be comfortable - which means SHORTS!

Looking at the lounge website , the definition of dress code is more friendly.

We understand that all our customers want to travel in comfortable clothing with our lounges having a relaxed dress code to reflect this.

We do ask that guests refrain from wearing items such as baseball caps, sportswear (football shorts / tracksuits etc), football shirts or items of clothing with offensive slogans.

So I think my cargo shorts will be acceptable - if not I will have to forego meeting my fellow travellers before the flight.

What have previous travellers experiences been?

OMG!!!!! :s I think I need a personal shopper to help me buy a whole new wardrobe!

:thumbup:Keep us posted. Will be looking out for "Man from Millets" on 3rd Oct!

Hi everyone, I have really enjoyed reading this thread! I always wear linen trousers on flights - they look respectable and are very lightweight (even if they do get very creased!). I often wear them when the group is going out to dinner as well. That's my first and probably last fashion tip!

Cheers,

Bob

Oh dear my sincere apologies KEVIN!!!! Or shall I call you Leah

How about a sarong David beckham wore one a few years ago...it didn't float my boat.

Cindy

Many thanks for the replies. I will give the matter careful consideration - One thing is certain though - I wont be wearing a Skirt, Cindy 🙂

I have a dislike of dress codes per se, as for much I my working life I have been forced to wear a suit and tie - so for my leisure, I don't like to be told what to wear. In contrast, I find my friends who do not have to wear formal clothes for work - delight in wearing a suit for a social occasion.

Perhaps I will go for my zip-offs, although with the bottom half removed - they really are short shorts! So perhaps not.

Hi

True! some airlines may refuse you to board in shorts and this may be deemed unfair on the person sat next to you, I would recommend something light and comfy for the flight and pack your shorts in your hand luggage and change into them once you arrive, can't say I have come across anyone wearing shorts at airports especially international airports, the zip off style trousers that Sally mentions sound a good idea, I intend to wear jeans to Australia but they are not full on heavy jeans and are comfortable and i'll prob only wear them to go and come home in being November/December also bearing in mind I won't be out in the heat of the day in them with arriving around midnight, I also intend for such a long flight wearing a cheapie shirt to dispose of when we get there

Leah..

I have used Lounges many times on my travels and smart casual is the way to go , not shorts... They might refuse you entry which would be a shame.

Instead of missing this great opportunity of meeting up with your fellow travellers and having the use of the lounge etc, may I suggest you wear skirt ..trousers....to the airport and whilst in the lounge and then change into shorts just before departure or on the plane just before landing.

At the end of the day you must do what you want to do it is your holiday.

Cindy

On particularly long flights I prefer to wear track suit style trousers but don't like to wear them for the journey to the airport or indeed for that first meeting with your fellow travellers so I pack them in my hand luggage and change either in the lounge just before the flight is called, or on the flight itself. They also stand in as a spare pair of bottoms if the worst happened and my luggage is delayed.

Your other option could be to invest in a pair of zip-off style trousers?

Sally
