One persons perception of a particular hotel could be totally opposite to another persons view. For example I was given a "smoking room" on JY holiday in Singapore last October although I do not smoke. I totally hated it and asked for a room change, which finally happened but my opinion of that hotel was poor. I did ask if my fellow JY travellers if they had a similar experience but they seemed to like the rooms they were in. They thought the hotel was fine.

I always look on trip advisor at the hotels we will be staying in and again peoples perceptions of a particular hotel varie from one listing to another. So I believe that rating are not necessary a "be all and end all" of booking a particular holiday but feedback will give an opinion of standards at each hotel.

I do understand what you are saying, but at the end of the day one has to take the ratings with a 'pinch of salt' as everyone is different. For example, a hotel might show a good rating on the brochure but someone who books after seeing the rating, may find the hotel completely opposite because of personal choice. Of course, not everyone is self confident seasoned travellers with Just You and believe me I too was very nervous and apprehensive when I booked my first solo holiday. Obviously I am sure there are plenty of people out there who would like to see the ratings before they book, but personally I never look at the ratings.

As I have previously said, I personally do not put too much weight on ratings etc as like Cindy said everyone is different - what one does not like, would be favoured by the other. If I fancy the holiday I just go ahead and book it without wasting too much time finding out all the information of which there is too much on the internet. To date I have not been disappointed with any holidays I have been on over the years as I always go with an 'open' mind and take everything in the stride. It is up to you at the end of the day as to what you make of the holiday. You can always try to turn disasters or disappointments into positives and this way you will never have a bad holiday. All experiences, whether good or bad, makes a person!

Obviously there are many self confident seasoned travellers with Just You. Equally many are new to solo travelling, perhaps having been recently bereaved or divorced, and feeling very scared and hesitant about doing things alone for the first time. Also, by no means does everyone who books with Just You have access to the Internet, using brochures or perhaps travel agents, so are unable to gain as much information as others. I just thought that for such people the more information they were given would be of benefit, both to them and Just You. The potential customer may feel reassured to know the holiday they were looking at had been rated in accordance with their particular preference, thereby feeling less hesitant in their choice and more likely to book. Many travellers have quite limited finances and would want to feel that they were getting what they hoped for out of their holiday.

Good point but, that's why I like these boards because you can see if someone has been on a tour and get an honest answer from them. At the end of the day we are all different.
