Hi

Am going to Peru on 28th August, was wondering how much Peruvian currency to take - we have to buy some meals while there. Also is it easy to use credit/debit cards there? Or is it best to take UK or US cash to take to change?

Plus are there any other important things we need to now - e.g. about travel, sanitary conditions etc. - bit concerned about not being fit enough to cope with the climbing and altitude sicness

Would love to hear from anyone else going

Best wishes,

Alison

Hi Alison.

Looking back at some past posts, it seems that Peru can be relatively cheap and to budget for around £30per day should see you through and most places will accept US dollars as well as the Peruvian Sol. It's also worth noting that you should try to get currency in smaller denominations. There are ATMs in most cities and towns but you should contact your bank and let them know that you are travelling abroad.

There have been travellers of all levels of fitness taking this tour in the past, and some people have been affected by altitude sickness while others have not, so please do not worry too much about this as you may be absolutely fine.

I'd recommend posting in our 'Say hello to other single travellers' forum and asking other members if they have any additional hints and tips that they could share with you.

Any other important information will be sent to you with your final documentation.

I hope you have a wonderful trip.

Kindest regards,

Julia
