If there is something in particular you want to see, I would book tickets online as soon as possible, as there is a chance they might sell out. If you are more interested in the experience of seeing a show in Vegas, you might as well wait until you get there and see what others are planning to see. I'm sure you'll have a great time whatever you see.

There are lots of websites telling you about upcoming Vegas shows. Try googling 'What's on Vegas' to see what will be on while you are there.

The drive from Barstow to las Vegas is about 2 hrs 30 mins so you should arrive in late afternoon.
