Hi Olly and Hammerette

Many thanks for your replies, they have helped a lot. Looking forward to the holiday.

Best wishes

Kedgeree

I've just come back from Peru - only took Sols. No need for dollars at all. Try and get your Sols notes in small figures as they do struggle to get you change (10 and 20 are easiest).

Have a lovely trip.

Hi Kedgeree

Either currency will be fine, as US dollars are widely accepted. If you use dollars you might find it easier to keep track of what you are spending but on the downside you will probably pay a bit more for things, as people will tend to round up prices. I used a combination of the two when I went, using dollars for larger purchases and Peruvian sol for smaller items.

Kind regards

Olly, your editor

Would like to know what currency would be best to take to Peru, the Peruvian sun and/or US dollars. I understand that the local currency is useful to have when eating out but is it advisable to take dollars as well?
