Christine - you dont necessarily need to book Alcatraz unless you want to land there, because the harbour cruise takes you both up to the Golden Gate bridge (and under it) and all the way round Alcatraz at close range

Hi Christine

The best time to book Alcatraz is the early afternoon of day 2.

You will have an included city tour in the morning, which usually finishes around noon. Then there is an optional harbour cruise. If you want to book that, I would book Alcatraz for around 2pm. If you're not worried about the cruise, you could book Alcatraz any time from around 1pm.

Hi Christine

So far eight people have booked and there should be more by the time you travel. The tour guide hasn't been appointed yet but if you can write again in late August I should be able to tell you.

It is usually cheaper to prebook because the price in resort also includes the cost of currency exchange (£ into $) and prices sometimes increase by the time you travel. Pre-booking would also save you having to carry lots of cash with you - this is something Community users have mentioned in the past, so we are working to make as many tours pre-bookable as possible.

Also I was wondering if it is cheaper to prebook the trips prior to departure?
