Apart from that, absolutely everything is included so you can concentrate on shopping. A fabulous holiday.

Thanks Alison
i got some yuan from the post office and a bank and there was not much difference in the rate--like everyone else i am taking 20 pound notes
Got back from China last Friday with JY and I have to say it really was a great experience. John the tour guide was extremely helpful and had some great stories to keep us amused. He has been travelling to China for over 20 years so is a great help all round. The Chinese guides speak excellent English and make sure you know the history and sights to see .. all in all a great and interesting experience. As far as money is concerned all 3 hotels you stay in will change £20 notes to Ruan (as long as they are not marked) and I used a couple of ATMs in Chengde with no problems. Since all excursions and meals are included you only really need maybe £20 per day to cover drinks, photos and any shopping opportunities although it is easy to spend more if you want (on jade, silk etc etc.) but most big shops accept cards.Enjoy the totally different experience of China ..... Pete

Went into M&s today to ask about currency & they stock Chinese Yuan, so I bought £100 worth. There is another message somewhere on the forum that suggest you take £100 in Yuan & about £300 in English notes as the hotels will change them, but they do like crisp notes. Look forward to meeting you on 23rd

1. Yes, it is easy to get Chinese yuan in the UK. You should be able to get it at the Post Office, your bank or from online currency companies. Some Community users have said they got a better rate by exchanging once they got to China but it's a good idea to get at least some of your spending money before you go.
2. All of your excursions are included in the price so this won't really be an issue on this holiday. Tour managers occasionally offer the odd unscheduled excursion - if this happens, payment will be in the local currency.
