Hi

I went on this fantastic trip last year and would agree with Olly that it may be better to wait until you are in China to complete your meeting up plans. Days were filled with exciting trips and I can't remember anyone actually taking note of the time except when we were getting up in the morning, as a couple of us would get up really early and go to watch the people exercising in the park before breakfast.

Have a fabulous holiday, I'm off to Apulia this year.

Olly, thanks again. I'm not going until Wednesday 25th April so hopefully I'll get a reply by then.

If anyone else on the forum has done this trip recently (10 days Wonder of China) and can let me know more specific times on the day with the Great Wall tour and Peking Duck dinner in the evening, I would be really grateful so I can make more definite arrangements to meet my friend before I actually get to Beijing.

Thanks to all ..........

Hello zztop

I have forwarded your message on to our tour manager department. I will let you know when I hear more but bear in mind tour managers have times without access to email so it may take a while.

Kind regards,

Olly, thanks agian.

One last question for now. I saw from an earlier post that the TM for this trip is John Drylie. Are you able to forward my questions on to him as I would like, if possible, to arrange a meeting time with my friend prior to actually being in China as Beijing is a very big place and he may need to travel.

Thanks ..........

Hi ZZTop

I'm afraid I am not personally in touch with the tour managers. Also it might be difficult for him or her to say exactly when you will get back to the hotel as the excursions may take longer than expected.

The best option might be to wait until you get to China, have a chat with your tour manager and then text or email your friend with a time to meet.

My guess is that after the meal might be a better option (maybe around 9 or 9.30pm).

Kind regards,

Olly, thanks for the update.

I got an e-mail from my friend yesterday and he is going to be in Beijing only and not Xian as I first thought. So from your comments I'll suggest to him we meet on Beijing Day 4 - the Peking Duck Dinner night - which I reckon will be on Saturday 28th April.

So a couple of other favours - have I got the date right and can you please ask the tour manager if possible what time we get back to the hotel after our Great Wall excursion and what time we finish the Peking Duck Dinner night so I can hopefully arrange to meet my friend either before or after the Peking Duck Dinner so as not to miss out on the experience.

Thanks again ...........

Hi ZZTop

None of the evenings are completely free so you might have to decide which activity you least want to take part in and see your friend then. I'd suggest Day 7 in Xian - I forgot the acrobat show in my previous message!

Beijing Day 2 - welcome drink (bear in mind you will be jet-lagged)

Beijing Day 3 - Acrobat show (very popular - it would be a shame to miss this)

Beijing Day 4 - Peking Duck Dinner

Xian Day 7 - Dinner (this may be the best night to do your own thing)

Xian Day 8 - folklore show

Xian Day 9 - farewell dinner

Kind regards

Can you plesae ask the tour manager which evenings are free on the tour or what time we generally get back to the hotel as my friend suggesrs he meets me at the hotel probably in Beijing or Xian.

Thanks ................

Hi ZZTop

You will be in Beijing for three nights so I'm sure you will find a moment to see your friend.

Bear in mind that the days are quite busy and I'm sure you won't want to miss out on seeing all those amazing sights, such as the Great Wall or the Forbidden Palace. Your best bet might be to see your friend one evening - perhaps on day 3 so you don't miss the welcome drink or the acrobat show.

Perhaps some other Community users who have done this tour can suggest a good time too?

Kind regards,

Olly, your editor

I am on the JY China trip on 25th April and have a friend in China who I would like to see whilst in Beijing. Do we get much free time so I can arrange a suitable meeting place and time.

Thanks .........
