I went on this trip last September and found that the only hotel with good free wi-fi was the hotel in Beijing and that depended very much on what room you were in. Also remember that websites such as gmail, hotmail and facebook are extremely hard to access.

Most of the hotels we use offer wifi facilities for a small charge so you can take your laptop with you.
