Hi John

Thank you for the info, it was very useful, I did have the web site already and I will use it in

the future.

I have been on the Nile cruise and had a great time I'm sure you will too.

Dave.

Hello Dave

I've booked a JY Cairo and Nile cruise and obtained the visa myself from the Egyptian Consulate in London (by post). I used the website

http://www.egyptianconsulate.co.uk/Visas.php  and followed the instructions to the letter, ie pay by postal order; attached 2 photos; fill in the form downloaded from the website; enclose your passport; enclose a home addressed return envelope (I used a padded one) with the correct postage and recorded delivery and posted it all recorded delivery. My post office was very helpful in making sure I had the correct stamps.

I posted it on the Monday and my passport was duly returned the following Friday.

I would say it cost me around £20.

One thing I would say is that the visa is valid from the day the Consulate processes the application and it is valid for 6 months so be careful that you don't apply to early.

John

Hi Dave

You are always free to make your own visa arrangements when you travel with Just You. We usually offer a visa service where a visa is needed so that customers can avoid the time and hassle of doing it themselves.

So while you are free to arrange your own Egyptian visa, my point is more that it may not be fair to expect the rest of the group to wait while some queue for a visa. From what I have heard, the length of the queues can vary from very long to there being no queue at all, depending on how busy the airport is.

Kind regards,

Olly, your editor

Hi Olly

The reason I asked is because when I travelled to Egypt Sept last year the visa cost £45 with JY,

when we arrived at Cairo airport we were met by someone who handed us our visas, I presume he bought

them from the visa office for face value which was a few yards away.

So all I would like to do is buy my own visa at the airport therefor saving at least £30, I'm sure the others

in the group would appreciate this saving too.

Kind regards

Dave.

Hi Dave

We usually arrange the visas for our customers and add the cost to the booking. I believe it is possible to get a visa on arrival in Cairo but the queues can be unpredictable and you may end up waiting a lot longer than you (or the rest of your group!) might like.

If you are keen to arrange your own visa, another option might be to do so in advance through a visa agency or the Egyptian embassy.

Kind regards,

Olly, your editor

If I book a JY holiday to Egypt next year could I buy my visa

in Cairo airport instead of JY?

Dave.
