I travel from LGW and LHR all the time the current guide line is ONE bag....a handbag = 1 bag.. so I take a backpack on the flight with things in and pack my handbag for when I get the othe end. If that helps.

I know you see people with handbags and other bags but better to be safe than sorry.

Can vouch for that- each airport has its own set of rules! (and sometimes, each person working there seems to, as well)!

The airline's rules say 1 x hand luggage only so I wouldn't risk taking anything extra.

CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME IF AT HEATHROW YOU CAN NOW TAKE HAND LUGGAGE AND A SHOULDER BAG WITH YOU. AS I KNOW THAT IT WAS STOPPED AND YOU COULD ONLY TAKE 1 BAG. BUT WHEN I WENT FROM GATWICK LAST YEAR I NOTICED PEOPLE GOING THROUGH WITH BOTH AGAIN. JUST WANT TO KNOW BEFORE I GO TO KENYA NEXT MONTH.
