Speaking from personal experience, the pre-loaded cash cards you speak off (mine was with American Express) are a fantastic way to take money abroad, one (or even two for security and spreading your money around) of these combined with some cash will be a good setup.

Could you please give me advice on the best way to take money to China. My sister has suggested one of these cards that can be loaded with cash, but it depends on ATMs being easily available. Otherwise cash, travellers cheques or whatever.And I believe I can take Chinese Yuan with me? Would really appreciate some advice.
